90 Points - Wine Advocate
Established in 1830 by the Tasca family, Tasca d'Almerita owns several vineyards throughout Sicily, producing a wide range of wines that capture the terrior of each vineyard. The Tenuta Regaleali estate in particular has been at the center of wine production for generations, stretching over several hundred hectares through the Sicilian interior between Palermo and Caltanissetta, to the Sclafani Bagni hills.
Grillo, which translates as "cricket," is a historical Sicilian grape variety, a cross between Moscato and Catarratto, for a wine with fine aromas and complexity. Pale straw yellow in color, Tasca d'Almerita Cavallo delle Fate Grillo offers a wide range of bright fruit aromas from crisp citrus to white peach, with subtle undertone of tangy apricots, and exotic tropical fruits. An elegant backbone of minerality carries the wine across the palate and leads into a long, balanced finish.
“The 2015 Sicilia Grillo Cavallo delle Fate Tenuta Regaleali opens to attractive roundness and a more evident sense of richness that suits this white wine well. It is aged on the lees in stainless steel for four months. The bouquet reveals apricot, citrus, honeydew melon and a touch of saffron. The wine offers toned lines and some soft contours that together form a very affordable medium-bodied white.” - Wine Advocate
