Once a popular spirit in the United States, Rye Whiskey was a key ingredient in numerous classic cocktails including The Manhattan, The Whiskey Sour, The Sazerac, and The Old Fashioned. This was changed by Prohibition, and by the time the law was repealed, Rye's popularity had suffered greatly. Redemption Rye is determined to revive this feisty spirit and restore its rightful place in every bar.
Redemption 9 Year Old Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon Whiskey is distilled from a mash of 60% corn, 36% premium rye and 4% malted barley and has been aged for nine year in charred new oak barrels. After being properly aged, the whiskey is minimally filtered and then bottled immediately at a bold 109.2 proof, resulting in a rich, flavorful spirit with prominent notes of spice, caramel and honey blended with hints of citrus and rye bread.
"Aged eight years and bottled at a stunningly high proof, look for rich aromatics of caramel, almond and maple. On the palate, this whiskey almost suggests a dark beer—it feels effervescent, and shows espresso, toffee and clove. Dilution (and plenty of it) coaxes out some sweetness, adjusting the flavor profile to caramel and toffee, finishing dry and spiced, plus a flash of almond. Distilled in Indiana, bottled in Kentucky." - Wine Enthusiast
