94.5 - Jim Murray, Whiskey Bible
The Paul John Single Malt Whisky is created in the breathtaking valley located in Goa, India. Goa’s tropical climate naturally accelerates the maturation of the whiskies in American oak barrels. The Angel’s share evaporation per annum is around 9%. They use a heritage variety of six row barely that is harvested in the foothills of Himalayas.
Crafted from 100% six-row Indian malted barely, distilled in copper pot still and aged in American oak barrels for a minimum of 4 years, Paul John "Brilliance" Single Malt Whisky is a non-peated, non-chill filtered spirit without any color or flavor additives, offering aromas of berry, green apple and cinnamon on the nose. Notes of dark chocolate, caramel and salted butter appears on the palate with lively spice and orange peel note from the mid-palate. Hints of juicy barley and orange lingers through the long finish.
