Old Pulteney 12 Year is a deep amber color with red reflections. The nose is dry and complex with a hint of sea air. The palate is dry, smooth and medium-bodied, with a clean finish. It tastes almost salty with a slight sherry note. Established in 1826 in Wick, Pulteney Distillery is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. When founded, it was only accessible by sea. The barley was brought in by sea, the whisky shipped out by boat and many of the distillery workers were also employed as fishermen. While the herring fishing industry is no longer part of daily life in Wick, the Pulteney Distillery continues to operate, distilling one of the finest Highland malts available. During its 12 years' maturation, Old Pulteney absorbs the sea breeze and develops a distinct character. Optional original packaging is a cardboard tube.
