91 Points - Wine Advocate
Located at the foot of the Ventoux Mountain, in the south of the Rhone Valley, Chateau Pesquie is a gathering of three generations of winemakers. In the Provençal language, the term “pesquie” means a fishpond and applies to the lexical field surrounding springs and water which are vital commodities in the dry Provençal climate. The large “bastide” is built on an outstanding site, at the junction of two springs which intersect under the Chateau. There are fifteen fountains in the gardens. The terroir of Chateau Pesquie has one of the coolest micro climates in the southern Rhone Valley. The terroir has a great mineral diversity, predominantly consisting of limestone. The Ventoux Mountain provides exceptional conditions to create outstanding wines.

Deep ruby in color, Chateau Pesquie "Terrasses" Ventoux Protegee is a red blend of 60 % Grenache and 40 % Syrah (with some traces of Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvedre). First the grapes are crushed and destemmed followed by a fifteen days maceration. Then the wine is naturally clarified through a series of decanting at select times. 30% of the wine is aged in 2-4 year old oak barrels for about six months. The resulting wine offers an intense nose with notes of red berried and black pepper. The full-bodied palate is well balanced with very round tannins, offering floral notes accompanied by flavors of fresh berry and spice. Pair it with pizza, kebab, vegetable pie, terrines and roasted or grilled meats.

"Always a terrific value, the 2014 Ventoux Terrasses is no exception and offers complex, classic southern Rhone notes of dried garrigue, pepper, spice-box, licorice and sweet cherry fruit. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, elegant and balanced red that gains depth and richness with time in the glass, has loads Provencal character and a great finish. Made from a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was aged in tank and old barrels, it can last for 7-8 years (I know as I just finished a case of the ’05, which was still going strong at age 10.)" - Wine Advocate
