Bodega Catena Zapata "White Bones" Adrianna Vineyard Chardonnay is crafted from 100% chardonnay harvested from a select 27 rows within Block 1 of the Adrianna Vineyard, located at almost 5,000’ elevation in the Gualtallary sub-district of the Tupungato region. The wine is fermented with wild yeasts in French oak barrels at low temperature and about two-thirds of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. The result is a bright lemon yellow colored wine with golden highlights offering aromas of apple, pear and white flower with subtle undertone of vanilla and stony minerality. The palate is crisp and fresh with additional notes of Bosc pears, baked red apples and quince along with flavors of creamy vanilla and baking spices. Pairs great with shellfish like shrimp, crab, and lobster. For a really special treat try this elegant Chardonnay with Grilled Langoustines with Beurre Blanc.
"The superb, elegant and aromatic 2013 White Bones Chardonnay seemed to jump out of the glass with its perfumed personality. This is a selection of the more chalky soils of the Adrianna vineyard in Gualtallary. It has a spicy, nutty nose with minty freshness and a sensation of wet stones. The oak is perfectly integrated (in fact, none of the Adrianna whites showed any oak) and it has an elegant profile, a wine built around finesse and acidity. It finished with a chalky, mineral finish, definitively salty. Simply stunning! 2,100 bottles produced." - Wine Advocate
