Bronze – San Francisco World Spirits Competition
Smugglers’ Notch Distillery is a father/son partnership in Jeffersonville, VT. The distillery, founded in 2006 at the foot of the famed Smugglers’ Notch, site of many a clandestine bootlegger’s run through this rugged Vermont mountain pass, opened its doors to the public in 2010. Using the finest ingredients blended with pristine Vermont spring water, Jeremy Elliott, a research chemist by trade, and Ron Elliott, with an extensive corporate business background, make and hand-bottle remarkably distinctive, award winning hand-crafted spirits one small batch at a time.
Distilled from molasses and aged for 3 years in charred American white oak barrels in their heated facility to simulate warm climate, this rum then goes through a second aging in used bourbon barrel to infuse complex whiskey overtones. This amber colored rum has an elaborate aroma of vanilla, toffee, honey, caramel and a warming sweet spice lingers at the finish.
