The Shirah Wine is the brain child of Gabriel and Simon Weiss, two brothers from New Jersey. In 2004 Gabriel moved to California to work for Herzog Wine Cellars. He also worked the cellars at Covenant Wines. Later on Simon joined him to work a harvest at Herzog and assisted Covenant during their harvests and bottling. Gabriel made his first wine with two friends in 2005 and started Shirah Wine with his brother Simon in 2009. They are dedicated to producing the highest quality kosher wine with a focus on varietals, blends and styles that are not yet well known to the kosher wine drinkers. For now, their primary focus is on producing ultra-premium Syrah, and as a natural extension, there future roadmap is to focus on Rhone varietals and other varietals and blends not yet produced at the highest level for the kosher market.
The Shirah Wine works with very small batches and their style is influenced primarily by the most reputable producers of California. They try to integrate multiple vineyards, varietals, yeasts, techniques, cooperages etc in their wines to add complexity and to explore these different elements that enhances the wine drinking experience.
Shirah Syrah offers lovely aromas of ripe blueberry and raspberry, accented by hints of mixed herbs and charcuterie. Vibrant berry notes carry through to the full-bodied palate, where the oaky concentration and jammy fruit notes are supported by firm tannins and lively acidity. A delicate spiciness and notes of herbs de Provence lingers through the long finish.
