In 1974 Gustave Crassous de Medeuil bought the J.M Distillery of Fonds-Preville. Since then, the Crassous de Medeuil heirs have carried on the time honored passion and tradition of making Rhum J.M. They grow and select their own sugarcane at Habitation Bellevue, located in northern Martinique at the foot of the Mount Pelee. Habitation Bellevue benefits from a tropical climate and particularly rich and fertile volcanic soil excellent for the cultivation of exceptional sugarcane. Within one hour after the sugarcanes have been cut, they are crushed to extract fresh sugarcane juice for immediate fermentation. The rum is distilled in two traditional Creole copper stills and the distillate is then blended with pure volcanic spring water. The purity of the volcanic spring water is a key contributor to the quality of Rhum J.M.
Golden brown in color, Rhum J.M VSOP offers an elegant nose of stoned fruits, spice and roasted coffee pave the way for a rich, complex palate featuring notes of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, spiced butter and lemony toffee, which leads to a well balanced, long finish.
