Oban is the frontier between the West Highlands and the Islands; the meeting place between land and sea. Established in 1794 by John and Hugh Stevenson, Oban is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The town grew up around the distillery and since its foundation, it has played an important role in local life.
Oban is one of only two remaining distilleries in the Western Highlands, and its stills are some of the smallest in Scotland. Oban's unique, enticing character reflects its origin, showing characteristics of both the Highland and Island styles. Elegant and glowing, it marries the briny sea air character of Island malts to the soft, rich, fruity style of the Highlands.
