94.5 Points - Jim Murray, Whisky Bible 2017
Twice distilled in copper pot still, Iron Smoke "Apple Wood Smoked" Small Batch Whiskey is crafted from grains obtained from local, family owned firms. These grains first go through apple wood smoking process and the whiskey aged in triple charred virgin American white oak barrels. The result is a deeply mellow, richly flavorful, full-bodied character with inviting aromas of candied fruit, vanilla and caramel. The palate is slightly sweet, with flavors of toasted nuts, fruit and vanilla. Subtle notes of warm apple wood smoke lingers through the finish.
“I just love the fact that the apple smoke contains both tannins and apple...and the grains are allowed the freedom to link with the tannins and form a bourbony undertone…; superb. Love it!” - Jim Murray
