Hans Reisetbauer 12 Year Old Limited Edition Single Malt Whisky is another unique whisky from one of the world's finest producers of eau de vies. Instead of imitating the style of established producers in Scotland or Ireland, Hans Reisetbauer does it his own way. The summer brewing barley is grown in their own firm. The barley is crushed and malted at 65°C before being cooled and fermented in stainless-steel tanks for around 70 hours. The fermented mash is then twice distilled in their copper pot stills at 140 proof and the distillate is aged in Chardonnay and Trockenbeerenauslese casks from top Austrian winemakers Alois Kracher and Heinz Velich. The result is a rich, vibrant and complex spirit with pronounced aromas of chocolate and coca and a very dense, fruity aroma of malt with spiced undertone. Maturation in Trockenbeerenauslese casks gives it a dry and sweet character with a slightly smoky note.
