Domaine d'Esperance is located on a hillside of the Bas-Armagnac area (know as Lower Armagnac) of Gascony, renowned for the subtlety of the eaux-de-vie it produces. Additionally the vineyards are on its most sought-after part, i.e.. the “Sables Fauves”, a sand based soil mixed with clay and a large content of iron, giving the soil its orangish color. About 8 hectares of the total 30 hectare vineyard is dedicated to making Armagnac by growing Baco 22 A and Folle Blanche.
Bottled at full proof, Domaine d'Esperance Single Cask Bas Armagnac Vintage 1995 is crafted from 100% Bacco 22 and aged for 19 years in local Gascon oak casks. The result is a distinctive Armagnac with a bouquet of walnut, marmalade, orange peel, caramel, and toffee. The palate is spicy with notes of chocolate, orange zest and vanilla loam, while a hint of tannins lent by the oak carry through the finish.
