Located in the town of Yashima on the foothills of the beautiful Mt. Chokai, Tenju Shuzo sits in the shadows of the so-called “Fuji of Akita.” The mountain is a source of incredibly pure water which has been a key ingredient in Chokaisan sake since the brewery was established in 1874 by the Ohi family. Currently owned and operated by the sixth generation, they preserve the family's traditions, while also updating the brewery with modern technology.
Chokaisan is created using a new strain of yeast derived from flowers, which results in an intensely aromatic sake with bold floral notes complemented by hints of pear and melon. Balanced, smooth, and semi-dry, it pairs perfectly with oysters, cheeses, nuts, or creamy pasta dishes.
Due to the delicate nature of this product, we highly recommend upgrading to overnight shipping if you live outside of our immediate delivery area (New York City, Long Island, Southeastern NY, CT, DE, MD, Washington DC, RI and Eastern PA); ideally, sake should be outside of refrigeration for as short a time as possible. Please contact customer service at info@drinkupny.com if you have any questions concerning sake shipping.
