Chateau Peybonhomme is one of two chateau’s owned by the Hubert family (Chateau La Grolet) and is among the most important producers in Premieres Cotes de Blaye. It is located in Bordeaux’s right bank of the Gironde and consists of 64 hectares spread over the communes of Cars, Blaye, Plassac and Berson, with South/South-West exposure on the “premiers” slopes dominating the “Gironde” river. This organic/biodynamic vineyard's soil matrix is one the best limestone and clay soils of the region. They produce mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a tiny bit of Malbec. The average age of the vines is 30 years.
Crafted from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabinet Sauvignon from a selection of their oldest vines, Chateau Peybonhomme Les Tours "Quintessence de Peybonhomme" offers inviting aromas of spice, vanilla, plum and violet notes that carry through to the palate, where they merge with notes of dried herbs, black fruit, licorice and a touch of smoke. Velvety tannins and balanced acidity merge with a pleasant minerality on the finish.
