Made by Marcos Eguren, the co-founder of the illustrious Numanthia-Termes project, Bodega Teso La Monja "Romanico" Toro is crafted from 100% Tinta de Toro i.e. the local name for Tempranillo. The wine is aged for six months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels and then blended together before bottling. The malolactic fermentation is also performed in oak barrel. The result is a opaque purple-colored wine offering notes of cherry fruits, allspice, candied fruit and cassis on the nose. The full-bodied palate is viscous and fruit forward with additional notes of raspberry, vanilla, pepper and wood smoke. A pleasant floral note lingers through the long finish.
