90 Points - Wine Spectator
Located at the heart of the Barossa Valley, the estate is a small, beautiful place tucked on the southern edge of the great Australian continent. The Barossa Valley Estate has been producing wine here since 1985 and though they have won much praise and several accolades along the way, they still consider themselves as a relative newcomer. The Barossa Valley Estate produces only red wines, namely Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and GSM. After all, these are the greatest wines from Barossa Valley.
Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz is produced from 100% Shiraz of 1654, 1125, BVR C12, 2626 and Heritage clones. The grapes were destemmed and transferred into fermentation tanks for pre-fermentation maceration and then fermented in a temperature controlled environment for up to seven days. Upon completion of fermentation, the wine was racked and underwent malolactic fermentation and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The result is a elegant wine with vibrant varietal characters that imparts enhanced bouquet of flavors, softness, texture and structure.
"Berry and cherry flavors have an appealing tang, showing fresh herb accents of sage and rosemary, with a warm, toasty finish where the tannins add appealing grip." - Wine Spectator
