The Sorricchio family has been the owner of Barone di Valforte estate since the 1500. In year 2003 the “Colline Teramane” area was designated as a DOCG and the entire vineyard lies within this DOCG. They grow both red and white varietals, primarily Montepulciano and Trebbiano respectively, as well as some indigenous varietals e.g. Passerina and Pecorino. The Montepulciano is grown on south facing mountain vineyards and the whites are grown on the cooler, north-facing slopes, lending to their freshness and finesse.
Barone di Valforte "Cerasuolo Rosato" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is created from 100% Montepulciano and even though a rose, radiates a deep ruby color in the glass, offering broad, bright varietal character with abundant aromas and flavors of red fruits like strawberries and cherries with a gentle undertone of vanilla and tobacco leaf. The great fresh taste is accentuated by modest acidity, making it a perfect companion for salade nicoise, grilled fish, melon and prosciutto.
