World Whiskey of the Year - Whisky Bible 2009
Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’) is a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. It's non-chill filtered at 108.4 proof, which retains maximum flavor and gives more body and added depth.
Rich and weighty with heady and smoky aromatics, Ardbeg Uigeadail is intensely flavored and very well integrated. At full strength, the initial aroma is a beguiling mix of warm Christmas cake, walnut oil and parma violets fused with fresh ocean spice, cedar and smoky coal fire. The rich palate with a deep mouth-coating texture, offers an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavors accented by the sweetness of treacle toffees and chocolate coated raisins bring indulgence through the smoke. Notes of raisin, mocha and rich aromatic smoke lingers through the amazingly long finish.
