On July 31st 1970, a 300 year old tradition ended when the last rum ration was issued aboard the ships of the British Royal Navy - a day to be forever remembered as Black Tot Day. Original Royal Naval records confirm that the rum ration was most likely imported from the West Indies in oak casks by E.D. & F. Man & Co, official rum merchants to the navy since 1784. The remaining rum stocks were filled into wicker clad stone flagons and stored away, being only drawn upon for use in state occasions and royal weddings. Bottled directly from these flagons, each bottle of Black Tot Last Consignment is a unique piece of history and a rare find for collectors. The packaging is beautifully crafted and includes an eye-catching wooden box, a half gill cup, a rum rations card and a small leather book explaining the history of Black Tot.
