Established in 2007 by Avery and Janet Glasser, Bittermens, Inc. is one of the largest producers of high quality artisanal cocktail bitters and intriguing flavoring extracts. They recently joined forces with long-time friend Mayur Subbarao, a skilled producer of vermouth and cordials, and expanded their company to include Bittermens Spirits, Inc. Their first release is a line of distinctive, full-flavored liqueurs, adorned with the colorful illustrations of Ipomee-Dwam.
In Strasbourg, it's common to enjoy an Amer Biere as an aperitif before dinner. The Amer used for the recipe is an Alsatian liqueur that tastes of bitter orange, gentian and other spices. The Bittermens Amere Nouvelle is an American interpretation of this classic liqueur, designed to work not only in an Amer Biere, but also in cocktails such as the Brooklyn and the Liberal.
