One of Spain's most popular varietals, the Tempranillo grape produces medium bodied wines with rich notes of ripe cherry, strawberry and plum, complemented by hints of dried herbs, tobacco and leather. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions in Spain are two of the most well-known producers of Spanish Tempranillo, releasing quality single-varietal bottlings or blending Tempranillo with other popular grapes, such as Garnacha. Made from 100% Tinta de Toro - known in most regions as Tempranillo - this wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and 10 months' maturation in French Oak barrels. Consisting of half new and half used, this judicious use of wood has imparted this bold wine with additional layers of complexity. This is an intense, complex wine displaying aromas of red berry, loamy earth, baking spices, smoke and savory herbs. The palate is ripe, concentrated and well-structured, with flavors of black cherry, toast and bacon.

Made from 100% Tempranillo, this red is structured and concentrated. Vina Zaco balances assertive acidity and bold tannins, and boasts flavors of blackberry, cherry, plum, and mocha. Though deep, it's far from brooding; this earthy red remains lively and bright.

This bold yet elegant Rioja has pleasant notes of raspberry, cherry, clove and cedar. Full bodied, with a strong tannic structure, this is the perfect companion to grilled red meat. Composed of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, and was aged 16 - 22 months in American oak.

Assertive tannins and balanced acidity last through the lengthy finish. It will continue to evolve for another two to three years and can be enjoyed through 2025.

Ercavio is a robust red vinified from Tempranillo grapes and aged for five months in French oak barrels. This lends a pleasantly toasty note to dark fruit aromas and flavors of blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant. Described in Wine Advocate as a wine that "totally over-delivers for its humble price," you'll want to stock up on this one.

Vina Ardanza Reserva Especial is a smooth, medium bodied blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha, and has been aged in American oak casks for 36 months. A complex nose of wild berry, lavender, coconut and incense merges with bold notes of dark fruit, cinnamon, tobacco and leather on the palate. Although this wine can definitely be enjoyed now, it will continue to evolve for another five to ten years and offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2036.
