In 2008, Gruner Veltliner accounted for 32.6% of all vineyards in that country. Some of the best Gruner Veltliner wines are produced in the northeast region of Austria. In the far northeast regions around Poysdorf, Austrian Gruner Veltliner wines are also made into sparkling wines. In recent years few American wineries in Oregon, Napa Valley and Finger Lake regions have started to grow and bottle Gruner Veltliner.

Hugl Weine Gruner Veltliner is produced by family-owned winery, reflecting both their winemaking skill and the distinctive terroir of the region; carefully limiting the yields of their vineyards, green harvesting, and cold fermentation all make for an exceptionally well-crafted wine. This concentrated, aromatic white offers ample citrus and grapefruit aromas, along with a hint of pineapple and white pepper. A refreshing minerality makes this an easy accompaniment to a wide range of foods.

Lagler "Burgberg" Gruner Veltliner Federspiel is a lively, refreshing white offering bright notes of green apple, citrus and stone fruits on both the nose and palate. The dry and slightly creamy palate offers elegant acidity and delicate carbonic acid. A touch of nutty aroma with a trace of yellow fruit and slightly herbaceous notes lingers through the crisp mineral finish.
