Fritsch Donauloss Zweigelt Hugl Weine Gruner Veltliner Lagler Burgberg Gruner Veltliner Federspiel

Though relatively unknown in the U.S., Zweigelt is Austria's principal red wine variety. Fritsch "Donauloss" Zweigelt executes a surprising balance of ripe fruit and grown-up maturity; while there's layer upon layer of plum and berry fruit, you can still take this red seriously. With delightfully assertive acidity and plenty of spice, you'll enjoy this pleasantly lengthy wine again and again.

Hugl Weine Gruner Veltliner is produced by family-owned winery, reflecting both their winemaking skill and the distinctive terroir of the region; carefully limiting the yields of their vineyards, green harvesting, and cold fermentation all make for an exceptionally well-crafted wine. This concentrated, aromatic white offers ample citrus and grapefruit aromas, along with a hint of pineapple and white pepper. A refreshing minerality makes this an easy accompaniment to a wide range of foods.

Lagler "Burgberg" Gruner Veltliner Federspiel is a lively, refreshing white offering bright notes of green apple, citrus and stone fruits on both the nose and palate. The dry and slightly creamy palate offers elegant acidity and delicate carbonic acid. A touch of nutty aroma with a trace of yellow fruit and slightly herbaceous notes lingers through the crisp mineral finish.

Marc Aurel Saint Laurent Nikolaihof Hefeabzug Gruner Veltliner 2008 Weingut Ewald Gruber "Punkt Genau" Rose Sparkling Zweigelt

Marc Aurel Saint Laurent, made from a relatively unknown grape in a relatively unknown region, is a fantastic find. This red is fermented in stainless steel and matured in large oak casks, lending additional complexity to this bright grape variety. The result is a medium bodied, gastronomically versatile, and simply delicious wine with aromas and flavors of cherry and plum.

This vibrant Gruner Veltliner displays concentrated notes of fresh apple and pear backed by bright citrus and abundant minerality. A balanced palate, crisp acidity and a lingering, spicy finish allow this wine to pair well with poultry, pork, veal, and seafood.

Punkt Genau--which translates to On the Dot--is produced exclusively from Zweigelt grapes grown in the heart of Austria's Weinviertel. This refined and refreshing sparkling wine captures many of the lovely attributes of Zweigelt, offering bright floral aromatics which lead to concentrated notes of freshly peeled apples, pears and cherry. A touch of spice merges with lively acidity on the long, structured finish.
