Hermann J. Wiemer was born in Germany into a line of winemakers reaching back 300 years. He started his winery in 1973 on the west shore of Seneca lake, believing the terroir to be similar to that of Germany's Mosel. Hermann J. Wiemer Dry Riesling is a specular example of this winery's Old World winemaking in the New World; though made in New York, it could easily be mistaken for a more-expensive German white. This wine boasts crisp minerality, lime, and green apple on the nose, while the palate balances zesty acidity and honeyed grapefruit and slate notes.
