Aged in caratelli for 10 years, Avignonesi "Occhio di Pernice" is a rich, viscous and intensely sweet Prugnolo Gentile which shows remarkable power and density. A pronounced nose of dried fruit, roasted chestnut, brown sugar, sweet fig and espresso elegantly merge with mocha, licorice, leather, vanilla and caramel on the graceful, full-bodied palate. Enjoy through 2029.

Blandy's Malmsey Colheita Madeira 1996 offers enticing aromas of dried fruit, toffee and dark chocolate. Notes of vanilla, oak, toasted almond and honey appear on the sweet, full bodied palate and linger through the long finish. It is an excellent accompaniment to cakes, fruit, chocolate, pralines and rich cheeses.

Made in an elegantly modern style, this exceptionally age-worthy wine is deeply aromatic with notes of dark fruit, anise, baking spices, and earth. The palate is layered, deep, and perfectly structured with flavors of blackberry, cherry, raspberry, violet, dark chocolate, and leather. Sweet tannins carry through the long finish.

A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve exhibits an opaque purple color, peppery, spicy, earthy notes, full-bodied intensity, and outstanding concentration, purity, and length. It is another sensational wine, but finding a few bottles will be difficult given the microscopic production. It should drink nicely for 20+ years, atypically long for a 2006.
