Bogle Vineyards Merlot Chateau Jean de Pey Chateau Larquey Bordeaux

Deep cherry fruit hits both the nose and palate upon the first sip, followed by soft hints of summer anise. Touches of pipe tobacco and spicy oak lend weight to the finish, trailed by firm, assertive tannins.

Chateau Jean de Pey is a balanced blend of 70% Merlot, and 30% Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. This red abounds with ripe red berry character, with pronounced notes of cassis and sweet spice. Its tannins make their presence known without overwhelming the palate. This remarkable value will quickly become a favorite; it's quaffable without being too simple, and makes a food-friendly companion at the dinner table.

Chateau Larquey Bordeaux is an estate bottled, medium-bodied, versatile red suited for pairing with a wide variety of cuisines. Intense cherry and plum notes and a rounded texture make this a great choice for everyday occasions.

Crosby Merlot Croteaux 3 Merlot Rose Douglass Hill Merlot

Crosby. California Merlot is great quality at a great price. Made from grapes sourced from excellent vineyards throughout the state, it offers abundant blackberry and fresh-cut grass on both the nose and palate.

Situated on the North Fork of Long Island, Croteaux is a highly unusual winery; uniquely, they only produce rose. Their grapes are harvested at the optimal time for pink rather than red wine, when the grapes' skin i just thick enough to impart gentle tannins and subtle color. This specialization shows in this equally unusual but utterly delightful blush. Croteaux 3 Merlot Rose is fermented in oak, which seems a risky proposition. However, the unexpected vanilla, butterscotch, and praline notes integrate beautifully with its aromas and flavors of strawberry and raspberry. Only 198 cases produced.

Douglass Hill Merlot is a knockout value. Though thoroughly affordable and simply labeled, this is a fantastic under-ten Merlot that far exceeded our expectations: full of ripe varietal fruit, it will also pair easily with a wide range of foods.

Gouguenheim Estaciones del Valle Valle Escondido Merlot Hansom Merlot Parcel 41 Merlot

This Merlot is a deep, rich, friendly red with gentle plum, cherry and currant fruit. A hint of fresh herb and violet appear on the supple finish.

Hansom Merlot is restrained, yet still classically fruit-forward, with notes of cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry on the nose and palate. Aged in French oak for 21 months for added complexity, the bright fruit is complemented by soft hints of vanilla and spice. This wine pairs well with a variety of food, especially poultry and grilled meats.

Sweet aromas of red berry and mocha lead to rich, abundant flavors of licorice, blackberry, and smokey oak. Beautifully balanced, with well-integrated acidity and tannin, this full-bodied Merlot will complement game and poultry dishes.

This bold, full-bodied Merlot displays velvety notes of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, and thyme complemented by hints of vanilla and smoke. It is an excellent accompaniment to pork, chicken, and pasta entrees.

Light, dry, and refreshing, this elegant rose boasts intense fruit aromas on the nose, which lead to notes of bramble, strawberry, and grapefruit on the palate. Bright flavors and crisp acidity allow this wine to pair well with grilled fish, chicken, and light summer cuisine.

Independent Producers is a versatile, food-friendly, and flat-out delicious single-vineyard Merlot. Surprisingly multidimensional, it has lovely notes of raspberry, blackberry tart, and earth.
