Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Dei Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Famiglia Castellani Biagio Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon

91 Points - Wine Spectator
This Vino Nobile is made up primarily of Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and has a silky palate, rich cherry fruit and a full body. This is a great alternative to more expensive Brunellos.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
92 Points - International Wine Cellar

The 2010 Vino Nobile Montepulciano is a blend of 90% Prugnolo gentile, the Sangiovese clone native to Montepulciano, and 10% Canaiolo nero. This savory wine has earthy and fruity fragrances of underbrush, spice and plum. The palate delivers a lush dark cherry flavor, accented by white pepper, cinnamon and licorice spice. With its fresh acidity and firm but elegant tannins, this has complexity and modest aging potential.

Vinified from 85% Sangiovese and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, this Supertuscan is vibrant and flavorful while maintaining its roundness and drinkability. Following a full 12 months' maturation in oak, Famiglia Castellani Biagio displays ripe red and dark fruit notes complemented by rich, toasty vanilla.

Fattoria Ambra Barco Reale di Carmignano Carmignano Fattoria Rodano Poggialupi Mate Brunello di Montalcino

Named as the "best young Barco Reale ever tasted" by Ian D'Agata of the International Wine Cellar, Fattoria Ambra "Barco Reale di Carmignano" is an artful blend of Sangiovese, Uva Francesca (Cabernet), Canaiolo Nero and other red varietals. The nose offers bright aromas of red berry fruit, with subtle floral and vanilla notes adding depth and complexity. Ripe redcurrant, cherry and cranberry appear on the palate, where lively acidity and polished tannins lend shape and structure. Hints of violet and marzipan linger through the finish.

Fattoria Poggialupi is a stellar value wine made from grapes sourced from all over the Chianti Classico region. Though it boasts all the bright fruit and balanced acidity of a fine Chianti, it's ready to enjoy now. Composed of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot matured in a combination of large botti and small barrique barrels.

Mocali Brunello di Montalcino Mustiaio Morellino di Scansano Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino

90 Points - Wine Spectator
Mocali Brunello di Montalcino is a remarkable red; relative to comparable Montalcino bottles, this complex Sangiovese is a truly remarkable value. Vinified from grapes grown in marl and limestone soil, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged for three years in large Slovenian oak casks, this wine maintains traces of terroir while benefiting from the winemaker's skill; both the nose and palate are infused with a subtle minerality distinctive to the Mocali vineyards, while the oak influence is present but perfectly integrated. With a complex and balanced nose of raspberry, licorice, chocolate, sweet spice, cinnamon, and coffee, this Brunello is concentrated, vibrant, and utterly ageworthy.

Mustiaio Morellino di Scansano is made from 85% Morellino, local nickname for Sangiovese. The winery is based at the western coast of Italy called the Tuscan Maremma. The local warm, sunny climate is ideal for the grapes to ripen well here. This savory and approachable wine has earthy and fruity fragrances of underbrush, black berry and spice. The palate delivers a lush dark cherry flavor, accented by white pepper, lavender, tobacco and spice. With its fresh acidity and soft, elegant tannins, this has complexity and modest aging potential.

Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino is both powerful and elegant, with an inviting bouquet of ripe cherry, blackberry and plum, laced with chocolate, clove, leather and oak. The silky, mid-weight palate offers beautifully balanced notes of luscious berry fruit, with hints of espresso, sweet spice and black tea lending depth and complexity to the vibrant, lingering finish. Enjoy through 2026.

Rocca di Frassinello Le Sughere di Frassinello Maremma Toscana Rocca di Montegrossi Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Tenuta Monteti Caburnio

90 Points - Wine Spectator
Composed of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Le Sughere di Frassinello is bursting with complex notes of black cherry, raspberry, violets, dried herbs, tobacco and spice. Balanced acidity and firm, yet well-integrated tannins merge with hints of game and graphite on the dark fruit finish.

98 Points - Wine Spectator
On the palate it's velvety, with intense, complex persistent apricot, dried fig, toasted almond, date and caramel aromas, yet almost weightless as it layers the apricot, honey and burnt molasses flavors effortlessly from start to finish. Shows amazing harmony, and the flavors last long after there is no liquid on the palate. It will work very well as a dessert wine, with dry confectionary or crème brûlée, and it will also work well with blue cheeses and foie gras. Drink now through 2025. 208 cases made.

Named by Wine Advocate as "one of the best values in Italian wine today", Tenuta Monteti "Caburnio" is a fresh, focused blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante and Merlot aged in equal parts steel and French oak for one year. Both the nose and palate are remarkably complex with savory notes of dried herbs, coffee beans and mocha enveloped in bushels of dark red fruit. Ripe tannins and bright acidity add structure and depth, resulting in a long, perfectly balanced finish.
