Former rugby player turned wine-maker (and still a rugby coach), proprietor Yann Chave owns just over four acres in Hermitage, mostly located in the Beaume lieu-dit, and close to 40 acres in Crozes Hermitage. The grapes for Yann Chave Crozes-Hermitage comes from vineyards locates at Peleat and Beaume lieu-dit, both of which are on the more eastern side of Hermitage hill and comprised mostly of calcareous, loess and sandy soils.
Created from 100% Syrah, Yann Chave Crozes-Hermitage is a big, rich and approachable wine with attractive notes of black raspberry, licorice, bouquet garni and spice with undertones of dark fruit, olive and tobacco leaf are well integrated with mild acidity and soft tannins.
