The Woodford Reserve Master's Collection was created in honor of the two men who started it all - owner Oscar Pepper and Master Distiller James Crow. They are largely credited with refining and defining key processes such as sour mashing, yeast propagation, copper pot distillation and the maturation of whiskey in new, charred oak casks. Their work defined bourbon and subsequently rye whiskey as we know them today.

With each release of the Master's Collection, one of the five sources of flavor has been altered. These five sources - grain, water, fermentation, distillation and maturation - are unique to bourbon whiskey, and changing just one of them creates a completely new flavor profile.

Master's Collection "Four Wood" is crafted from a unique batching of mature Woodford Reserve bourbon which has been aged in American Oak and finished in barrels made from Maple, Sherry and Port woods. The Oloroso Sherry barrels lend notes of walnut and caramel, while the Ruby Port barrels add rich notes of berry fruit. The Maple Wood barrels bring in additional layers of maple syrup and baking spice which follow through to the finish.
