Meletti Anisette was invented and produced for the first time in 1870 by Silvio Meletti, who meticulously hand crafted the liqueur in his mother's small shop. After much experimentation, he determined that the best anise was cultivated in the clay soils of Ascoli Piceno, situated on the Adriatic Coast directly east of Rome. This high quality aniseed (Pimpinella Anisum), along with a variety of other herbs and spices, directly contribute to the delicate taste and unique aroma of Meletti Anisette.
