Description   Named after the white, soft rock found in the hills of Vouvray, "La Craie" (or "chalk" in French), has been created using some of the best Chenin Blanc in the appellation. The young vines (15 - 25 years old) benefit from this soft chalk, which ensures good drainage down the slopes, and keeps the soil warm at night to help keep the roots from experiencing drastic temperature changes. This small-production bottling is composed of 100% Chenin Blanc and is bottled fresh and young, without ever being oaked. It is designed to offer the striking crispness that is expected from the Loire, but contains a very small amount of residual sugar for an added layer of complexity. Subtle notes of apricot and green apple present themselves on the nose, but are much more vibrant on the palate and are complemented by bright notes of ripe pear and citrus fruit.
