Established in 1902, Tommasi Viticoltori is located in the heart of Valpolicella Classico region, on a small piece of land in the northwest part of Verona, between the Lessini mountains and their planes near Lake Garda. The estate is currently run by the fourth generation of the Tommasi family, who have earned the reputation for being one of the finest producers of Appassimento wines.
Composed of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, Oseleta and Merlot, Tommasi "Arele Appassimento" Veronese Rosso is produced using the ancient Appassimento technique, which means that a selected portion of the grapes are partially dried prior to being pressed in "Arele", the local name of the traditional wooden trays used during this process. Matured for twelve months in Slavonian oak casks, Tommasi "Arele Appassimento" is an intense red boasting complex notes of raspberry, cherry, black pepper and earth on both the nose and palate. Firm tannins and balanced acidity mingle with hints of spice on the lasting finish.
