Description

The origins of d'Arenberg date back to 1912, when Joseph Osborn purchased the Milton Vineyards, located just north of the townships of Gloucester and Bellevue - the area now known as McLaren Vale. His son, Frank Osborn, greatly expanded the vineyards and sold fruit to local wineries until he was able to finish constriction on his own cellar in 1928. It wasn't until 1943 that Frank's son Francis, known by all as "d'Arry", returned from school to help his ill father run the business. In 1957 he assumed full management, and by 1959 Francis had launched his own label - d'Arenberg - named in honor of his mother. Today, the winery is operated by the family's fourth generation, Chester d'Arenberg Osborn, although d'Arry is still very much involved. In June 2004 he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his contributions to the wine industry and to the McLaren Vale region, and in 2006 his 80th birthday was celebrated with a specially commissioned poster.

d'Arenberg "The Stump Jump" Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant, fruit-forward wine with lively notes of cassis, dark plum and blueberry enhanced by a well-integrated touch of oak. A soft mineral note on the finish is accented by hints of mint and bell pepper.
