In the 18th and 19th centuries, Madeira was the United States' most prestigious wine, and many prominent families built sizable collections for long-term aging. In the late 1800s, successive plagues of Oidium and Phylloxera devastated Madeira production and the tradition drifted into obscurity. The Rare Wine Company, along with Vinhos Barbeito, created The Historic Madeira Series in order to reintroduce Madeira to the general public and bring them quality products that reflect the style and complexity of the great vintage wines. To emphasize America's deep historical connection to Madeira, each wine in the series is named for a U.S. city where it was popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Each bottle bears an early engraving from the chosen city, along with a back label describing America's special link to Madeira's illustrious history.

Boston Bual celebrates the complex, elegant Buals that 18th and 19th century Bostonians relished. This velvety, full bodied Madeira boasts intense notes of toasted nut oil, orange peel, and maple syrup on the nose and palate. Its moderate sweetness and tangy flavors give it the versatility to be enjoyed both before and after dinner.
