Better ingredients make a better cocktail, and it would be difficult to find a better rye or sweet vermouth for mixing a Manhattan. Try experimenting with proportions and types of bitters; even a small change can make a huge difference.

1 3/4 oz. Michters 10 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey
3/4 oz. Quady Winery "Vya" Sweet Vermouth
1 dash Angostura bitters*
1 splash of maraschino cherry juice (optional)

Stir with ice in a mixing glass and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
