90 Points - Malt Advocate
The Glenlivet Distillery, founded in 1824 by George Smith, utilizes its surroundings and unique climate to influence the character of their whisky. High in the mountains, the cool climate created ideal conditions for the outdoor whiskey production of the past. The winter brought ferocious blizzards, but the snow then melted to create natural springs along the mountainside. Today, the distillery still draws upon its environment and uses traditional production methods to create the same exceptional spirit that is its legacy.
Nadurra, meaning "Natural" in Gaelic, is bottled at cask strength and is non-chillfiltered to preserve its natural flavors and to add more body and texture. After 16 years in first-fill American oak casks, Nadurra displays a fresh medley of floral and sweet spice aromas, enhanced by hints of toasted oak. On the palate, gentle notes of sweet fruit and honey are balanced by hints of ginger and hazelnut on the dry, oak finish.
