Situated 180km northeast of Mumbai, Nashik is India's largest grape-growing region, although traditionally the land had never been used for that purpose. It started in 1993, when engineer Rajeev Samant began to research the climate and terroir of the land, and found that the Nashik climate was similar to winegrowing regions in Spain, California and Australia. He teamed up with Kerry Damskey, an eminent Californian winemaker, who traveled to India to help start a winery on Samant's thirty acre family estate.

Sula Shiraz is an enticing, medium-bodied red offering lively aromas of ripe red fruit, spice and tobacco. Notes of blackberry, raspberry, vanilla and black pepper appear on the palate and are complemented by balanced acidity, round tannins and a spicy finish.
