Established as a brewery in 1862, Uerige has earned an excellent reputation for their high quality beers. However, in the 1980s the Schnitzler family, the owners of the brewery, visited the Glenmorangie distillery in Tain and realized that they could create spirits as well. They started distilling their beer to create an interesting, complex whiskey, and soon became the first official distillery in Dusseldorf. Today, the company is still mostly known for their beer, however, their whiskies are gaining popularity and just recently arrived in the US.

Stickum Plus is a limited edition whiskey distilled from Uerige's strong, flavorful DoppelSticke beer. After distillation, the spirit matures for 18 months in ex-Remy Martin Cognac barrels, which adds character and complexity to the finished product. On the nose, Stickum Plus offers an interesting blend of fresh fruit, toasted oak and spice, accented by a subtle hint of sweetness. The palate is beautifully balanced with smooth flavors of honey and malt, complemented by a subtle plum note and a light herbal bitterness. Spicy oak flavors appear on the long finish but slowly fade into citrus fruit, raisin and pistachio.
