The legendary Slane Castle is situated in the historic Boyne Valley, located under the Hill of Slane, where St. Patrick lit his paschal fire. It's the home to the Conyngham family, who has lived in the castle since 1701, and over the years have mingled with royalty, famous musicians and noted architects. Chosen and blended especially for the Conyngham family, Slane Castle Whiskey has been distilled by the nearby Cooley Distillery, which won the European and World Distiller of the Year at the 2008 International Wine and Spirit Competition. It is a well balanced blend of malt and grain Irish Whiskey which has been matured for at least four years in ex-Bourbon American oak casks. The nose is sweet and light with aromas of malt, caramel and vanilla, while the palate is full and smooth, showing notes of grain, honey, citrus and raisin. Hints of spice, malt and oak appear on the slightly dry finish.
