Shafer Vineyards traces its beginnings to 1972, when John Shafer left his twenty-three year career in the publishing industry and moved to the Napa Valley to pursue a second career in wine. Evolving from grape growers to vitners, the Shafers produced their first vintage in 1978 and has grown steadily ever since to become one of the world's most respected winemakers.

Named "one of the New World's most profound Cabernet Sauvignons" by Robert Parker, Shafer Vineyards "Hillside Select" Cabernet Sauvignon has been matured for four years prior to release. An alluring nose of black cherry, cassis, espresso and violet leads to a dense, full-bodied palate brimming with notes of ripe berry, dark chocolate, leather, smoke, licorice and peppery spice. Ripe, silken tannins lend themselves to a lengthy finish, velvety texture and a refined structure which offers the potential for long term aging. Enjoy through 2028.
