Founded by growers Gary and Rosella Franscioni, ROAR Wines is a small, family-run producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the elite vineyards of Santa Lucia Highlands. ROAR wines are made in collaboration with noted winemakers Ed Kurtzman and Adam Lee from fruit grown at the Franscioni’s own Rosella’s, Sierra Marr and Soberanes vineyards as well as the Gary’s and Pisoni Vineyards, which they co-own with the Pisoni family. Their goal with ROAR Wines is to make small lots of wine that are a pure reflection of the Santa Lucia Highlands and in particular the signature flavors of the vines. The name ROAR comes from the sound of the Monterey Bay winds that roar through their vineyards as well as the thrilling sound of a roaring crowd.

The juice of Roar Pinot Noir spent 24-31 days on the skins before being pressed to French oak barrels for 11 months aging. The wine was racked once and bottled unfiltered and unrefined. Dark garnet in color, the nose opens with dark fruit, cola, and blackberry with hints of subtle sweet floral and sandalwood notes. The well structured palate shows deep, rich fruit with the mid-palate brightening to a complex bouquet of strawberry, blackberry, and pine forest notes. The wine continues to evolves on the palate to brighter, lifted fruit undertone on the lingering finish.
