Top 10 Value Wines of 2015 - Food & Wine Magazine
Located on a hillside, overlooking glacier-carved Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State, Ravines Wine Cellars is a small, family owned winery dedicated to the craft of fine classical wine-making, wines that express the unique qualities of the vineyard sites, the growing season, and the winemaker's vision. Their cool growing season, sloped vineyard sites and the moderating effects of the deep lakes create an ideal condition for producing vibrant, balanced and food friendly wines.
Ravines Wine Cellars Dry Riesling offers rich aromas of white flower, citrus, white peach and ripe apple as well as a distinct minerality. On the palate, the Finger Lakes acidic backbone provides great focus, liveliness. The aging on the fine lees has resulted in a gentle round texture supporting the floral and mineral elements of this Riesling. Vibrant acidity and mineral notes lingers through the long finish.
"A taut, dry style, with pure lime, kiwifruit and pippin apple flavors backed by a slate note that gives the finish good tension and length. Very solid. Drink now through 2017." - Wine Spectator
