The first release of Obsello Absinthe Verte was Spain's most celebrated absinthe, with awards and honors from The Beverage Tasting Institute, Imbibe Magazine, The Wormwood Society, Wine Enthusiast and The Tasting Panel. The second release, Obsello II, now produced at the Lost Spirits Distillery in California, is a highly aromatic, remarkably complex, and thoroughly intriguing spirit. While the original release used grape spirit as a base, Obsello II begins with rum. Master Distiller Bryan Alexander Davis reformulated the blend of botanicals to complement the new base spirit, combining wormwood, anise, fennel, star anise, coriander, lemon balm and hyssop flowers to create a incredibly distinctive absinthe with an elegant, attractive louche. The spirit was rested in casks before bottling, lending a subtle oak note which complements the long, herbal finish.
