Winemaking started in the Pannonhalma-Sokoroalja region when Benedictine monks founded the monastery of Pannonhamla in 996 AD. After World War II, both the property and winemaking facilities were under the control of the Communist State and wine production was halted. However, since the fall of Communism, the monks have revived their viticultural traditions and in 2000, repurchased the vineyards and started replanting the vines. The first harvest took place in Autumn 2003.
This medium-bodied Pinot Noir offers bold aromas of raspberry and cherry accented by light hints of spice. The palate is smooth and delicate with soft tannins and balanced acidity leading to earthy, mineral notes on the finish.
