Description

This is a lively, intense wine with a deep ruby-red color. The wine starts with violet and rose floral nuances, followed by red raspberry and black currant fruit emerging on the palate. This is a medium-bodied, dry table wine with supple tannins, a touch of oak and a nutmeg and vanilla-laced finish. This Umbrian table wine from the hills surrounding the town of Orvieto is a great accompaniment to pasta dishes and warm, homecooked meals.

A juicy, classically Italian blend of 70% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 5% Canaiolo, Colorino and Montepulciano, the name comes from a medieval linear measure used when surveying land. The Sangiovese is aged in large, upright casks called tini, whereas the Cabernet and Merlot are aged in seasoned, neutral barriques.
