Limited Release. One bottle per customer please.Back in the 1800s, bourbon was sold in bulk to retailers who sometimes tampered with quality of the whiskey in the barrel. A pharmaceutical salesman in Kentucky named George Garvin Brown saw the need for a consistently high quality whiskey that met "medical" standards. He and his half brother decided to open their own business selling whiskey sealed in glass bottles to ensure its quality - their Old Forester Bourbon Whiskey was the first bottled bourbon in the United States. The eleventh annual edition of Old Forester "Birthday Bourbon" is a twelve year old whiskey crafted from an eighty two barrel batch selected from a single day of production, with a mashbill that had an additional 2% malt, compared to Old Forester's standard mashbill. On the nose, this limited edition whiskey displays pronounced aromas of cinnamon and spice, accented by notes of vanilla, oak and roasted nuts. The palate opens with inviting notes of vanilla, marzipan, caramel and ripe fruit which quickly give way to a bold note of spicy oak. Rich flavors of toasted almond, toffee and oak linger through the long, malty finish.Product of KentuckyAlcohol by Volume: 49%
