The Odoardi family has owned land in Calabria's Cosenza and Catanzaro provinces for centuries. The vineyards lay in the countryside, crossed by the Savuto river and situated in the hills facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, which gives much needed ventilation to this dry region. The winery takes advantage of these growing conditions by planting obscure historic grape varieties in Italy's lesser known denominations: Savuto DOC and Scavigna DOC.
Composed of 45% Gaglioppo, 15% Greco Nero, 15% Nerello Cappuccio, 15% Magliocco Canino and 10% Sangiovese, this impressive blend is bursting with fresh red fruit and smoky plum flavors. Tobacco, mint, truffles and spice add further layers of complexity, with black pepper and spice notes lingering through the finish.
