Description

Gold Medal - San Francisco World Spirits Competition, 2009

Obsello Absinthe Verte is Spain's most celebrated absinthe, with honors including: GOLD MEDAL 2008-Beverage Testing Institute, 4 STARS Imbibe Magazine, 4 STARS-Wormwood Absinthe Society, and inclusion in Wine Enthusiast's "Best of 2008" issue.

Created in small batches with copper alembic stills, Obsello Absinthe Verte is a uniquely aromatic, highly refined, and decadently rich spirit. It starts with grape spirits distilled from the Macabeo, Xareal-lo, and Parellada grape varietals grown in Penedés Spain. The absinthe is then distilled with eight independently selected herbs.

The vibrant nose displays aromas of candied plum and vanilla, while the palate is herbaceous, honeyed, full-bodied, and refreshing. With the addition of cold water, Obsello develops an opaque, opalescent louche that releases yet more complexity.

Obsello is made with 100% real wormwood, and no artificial coloring or flavoring. This traditional distilled absinthe comes packaged in a UV-resistant bottle designed to protect the all-natural color.

one of my favorites February 14, 2010

This absinthe is great for all around drinking. It's smooth, and the taste is not overpowering. This is perfect for a quiet afternoon at home.

Interesting October 14, 2009
Reviewer: Tim from Palm Coast, FL United States
This one here is pretty interesting for me.  I tend to prefer wormwood up front in absinthe, but this one is more anise up front-as is most Spanish absentas, but it is not an anise bomb either, finished nice with mint and wormwood working together nicely.  Louche and mouth feel are nice, very creamy.

Very nice! July 14, 2009
Reviewer: Chris Clady from Portland, OR United States
I've not been around long enough, nor  experienced enough to comprehend the anti-Spanish absinthe bias. This has a pleasant well balanced flavor, that invites you to savor it. Similar to Mansinthe, but available more often.
You can have a quality absinthe for under $50!
This or La Charlotte are your best bet for under $50.

Very Enjoyable July 14, 2009
Reviewer: FV from Mosinee, WI United States
I received my bottle exactly a week after I ordered it and it was pretty much as described.  The smell was very distinct and sweet.  I had two drinks and they were very palatable, no trace of the bitterness I've experienced with a certain Czech absinthe.  The 10mg thujone content undoubtedly plays a role in this.  Having said that, I found the effect to be notably less intense than what I have experienced with what I have tried in the past.  Still an enjoyable drink and I would definitely recommend it for the first time buyer based on drinkability and price.  I would personally prefer something with higher levels of both alcohol and thujone, but this is still good stuff.

very Smooth/silky July 1, 2009
Reviewer: PGH-sintheur from Pittsburgh, PA United States
This is one of the better 'sinthes, for sure ... it's very smooth and silky compared to most other sinthes that i've had , anyway .. the brandy base is a big part of that compared to the harsher, more abrasive tasting absinthes that use a grain alcohol base ....
It's not the most bodacious nor complex tasting absinthe out there, St. George is the winner in that category but this is good overall sinthe, especially now with the price here having been reduced !!!
