The Meerlust Estate was established in 1693 by a German immigrant named Henning Huising, who named the farm "Meerlust" which means "pleasure of the sea". In 1756, the estate was purchased by the Myburgh family, who has been producing world-class wines on the property for eight generations.

Matured in French oak for sixteen months, Meerlust Merlot displays bright aromas of plum and mulberry fruit, accented by tones of dark chocolate, graphite and spice. The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon lends structure to the generous, fruit-forward palate, while refreshing acidity and a delicate minerality complement the long finish.
